The Community Food Drive, held in Decatur, Illinois, is celebrating it’s 13th successful year of collecting monetary and food donations for Catholic Charities on Friday, October 10, 2014. The WSOY Community Food Drive has worked with our community in gathering food and money to stock the shelves of food pantries. In 2002, the first food drive collected and donated 31,000 pounds of food to those in need with the necessity to continue to grow every year.
Dr. Fucinari and Decatur Back and Neck Center have been a proud sponsor of the WSOY Community Food Drive since its inception 13 years ago.
The annual food drive is held in the Mt. Zion Kroger parking lot, where thousands of pounds of food are gathered to fill a large truck to feed the hungry. The WSOY radio station covers the event, taking phone and in-person monetary donations, with prizes and guest speakers throughout the day.
We encourage individuals and businesses to help come together to support those in need in our community by dropping off food donations on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 6am – 6pm, calling (217) 875-3350 to make a donation via phone, or text 91011 to donate via text.
